I have two TT500s. One 1978 (yellow), and one 1981 (last year, not a whole lot of them around, white with the red graphics). Just acquired them from certain death from a family member. Both sat for 10 years. Yellow one fired second kick after cleaning the tank/carb/changing oil. White one needed some $12.99 Daichi points and cleaning of the same stuff and the pigtail from the magneto. Fired third kick.
![]() ![]() My main dual sport/fun ride is an 86 XR600. Been doing a lot of rallies on it this year. Just keeps going.

What qualifies as "old"? Here is my 88 KDX200 that a 16 year old got a hold of before me. Need's lots of love to get back to good riding condition, but I traded an old Puch moped I had fixed up for it, so I can't complain.

Morini Kanguro
From 1983 but photographed in 2010.
An unwieldy beast but good fun nonetheless. Resting against a fingerpost in Nottinghamshire. This is how it looked when I bought it in 2002.

![]() Taken last month, this is a shot of my 1986 XR600R. I bought it new, in July of 1987. I'd been in the shop a few days before I bought this. They had one just like it on the floor, in addition to an '87 in the new white color scheme. I passed that day. I got up Saturday to go look again. The salesman came over, and told me that he'd seen me in before. I said something like "I came in to look at that '86 you had, but it's gone. I don't know about the white ones". He told me that they had just finished putting together another '86. We went out back and they were just washing it off. I got on it, started it and listened to it idle for a little bit, them I bought it. |

My '77 XT500, bought in Sept. '09 for $400, I spent another $250 to make it roadworthy. Only had 660 miles on it then, just under 12k now.

TT500s!
Had a new 76 (the 1st year out) and then a new 78. Great machines in their time. Then in 1980 Honda came out with the 1st XR500 with the 23 inch front wheel. So went to Honda and stayed there till my new Super Tenere.

Here's mine. Used to run now my project for next year:
Its my 1984 Can-am ASE. I purchased it from a farmer friend back in 2002. Started on the first kick. Last time it ran was 2009. The 6 pole stator broke. They are pretty hard to come by. But lately I've been digging around the Can-Am and Rotax website, and I am almost convinced I can squeeze in a DS650 4 wheeler engine without cutting or welding.
