In the US in 2014?

I can hardly wait. Have looked at a bunch of bikes lately and the only one that seems to come close to my sweet spot is the little honda CBR 250R, and its just a bit smaller than i would like in terms of power.
I think the 390 Duke is going to be exactly what i want....now if can just wait another year.....

Did you miss the Ninja 300? It is exactly what you described, a CBR250 size and quality with more power.

Having owned an SRX6 and an ancient 250 single, I have a terminal case of Thumperitis!

I get that, and the 390 should be a hoot & a half. Still, (and I have no love for parallel twins at all besides 2 strokes) the 300 doesn't feel like what it is. Think torquey I4 of 400cc, and most of all, it is actually here!

Gusses as to when?

So could it show up here (US) this fall or winter perhaps.? The local KTM dealers know nothing. Most didn't even know the 690 duke was due here..

Surprise, surprise! Watch the threads coming from India. They will give you the early leads...

Whenever it arrives, it won't be soon enough!

The other issue I have with this bike ( other than not being a thumper) is the styling leaves me cold, and it's not as comfortable as the CBR250. I saw numerous KTM Duke 200's in Italy a couple weeks ago. I was unable to rent one, but I did sit on one, and i liked the ergos and position as much as the little honda.

Oh man, just found out about this bike. Seems like the just the thing I want after my Ninja 250.

I saw the 690 at a local dealer, looked fantastic... now to wait on the 390!

I too eagerly await the 390. No doubt it will be more powerful and lighter than my current new gen Ninja 250. But my question is whether it is comfortable for long distance highway/freeway trips. My little Ninja is amazingly good for 500 mile days. If the 390 can't do something similar, that would be a problem.

For me, it won't be the qualities of the thumper, or the power/torque - it will be the size of the frame.

I spent quite a bit of time sitting on a Duke 690. The ergos put me really far forward, making it a cramped cockpit space. I need to change the saddle to be able to slide back some, to give me room between my seat and the tank / bars. I would consider moving the pegs back some, too.

We'll see how the 390 ergos work. I'm sure we'll be able to make some after-market adjustments, I just want them to be reasonable.

From all the reviews I've read on the 390/690 and having ridden the older
690, and the Ninja 250 and 650, no, the Duke has nothing to do with comfort.

It's stiff and aggressive.

Took a test ride of the 390 recently and boy oh boy this is one crazy bike. Accelerates pretty quickly, for the kind of roads we have around here it may just be a little too quick.

Been riding around a Duke200 last few days and compared to that the ergos on the 390 feel a tad better. Also road undulations seem better handled on the 390 compared to the 200, but that could also be due to the higher weight. The metzelers are superb, give amazing levels of grip. The heating is a few notches above the 200 so stop and go traffic in tropical countries like mean grilling the thighs :p .

The exhaust bend pipe looks like a shoddy after thought with welds visible and a small dent in it to make space for the frame.

I am still in 2 minds to put my money down for this or wait for something else. But at just 30% more cost above the D200 this is a steal!!!
