Vapor Guard

Can I recommend the aluminum guard for the Vapor?

I want to do that, but nothing will fit on the 80.

I will have to come up with something. That plastic thing will not last.

This is just too cool. I have been wanting to do the same thing with a 100 for a long time now.

Awesome!

Blast you!

Just saw that Vapor is made for the KLX as well.

I can't seem to find a deal on one. Can I ask where you sourced yours from?

I purchased mine from Trail Tech. $134. I've seen them for less than $100 on Ebay. I called to make sure I was getting the right one for my application, as they don't make one specifically for the CRF80. Keep looking, the good deals are out there.

I may wind up getting the speedo that is specifically for the Baja Designs kit. It will connect right up to the harness.

Installed left side controls today.

I sorted out how to mount the rear brake light switch with an Adel clamp, and was able to just hook the other end of the spring around the brake rod. I think it will work ok.

The ADV 80 is done.

I finished it last night. It's at the shop right now getting some adjustments done, and waiting on a part from Trail Tech. The front brake cable was too short, so they made up a new one for me. The throttle didn't feel right. I had put the carb spring on the brake, and the brake spring in the carb. I had a 50/50 chance. With the tall seat and handle bar risers, the bike sits great. I'm not anticipating any problems getting it plated. I learned a lot about maintenance with this project. I'm going to get right into finishing my 72 Trail 70. That's been a project for the last 4 years. Next will be taking my 74 Hodaka Dirt Squirt down and repainting the frame the correct color, refreshing the engine and generally making it look new. I'm having a blast with these projects.

That's great! Congrats on a beautiful job. Post a link to your Dirt Squirt resto thread here so we don't miss that one...

Turned out great. You'll have a blast on it.

I miss my plated CRF150F and you may have inspired me to build another neighborhood cruiser.

Thanks for the kind words.

After I get the other two bikes done. I want to plate, and supermoto a CRF150F. I need to find one for under a $1000 though. The sumo wheel and tire conversion will cost that.

A couple more photos

I media blasted the header shroud and rattle canned it with Hi Temp Silver. It came out pretty close to the frame color.

The Vapor is mounted to the number plate screw on the front of the triple tree. It seems pretty protected. But I still think I will get the cover for it.

a thing of beauty

projects like this just rock Gongrats on the result

If you are still looking for a surround for the vapor, Highway Dirt Bikes make one. They look great with just one of their top clamps if you don't want the full guard set up
