ktm 990 5.2 Spal fan

I used a Spal 5.2 size fan on my 2007 ktm 990 adventure . Fan fits perfect and I used three zip ties to secure it.

Here is a picture of a smaller fan that most install.

Zip tyes and heat arent the best combo. They will get brittle fast

Im considering the same thing, Just wondering how this has held up over time? Rub any holes in your radiator or oil tank or anything weird?

No problems with the fan. The three zip ties I used are still good. The fan works great. The fan comes on when the left fan kicks on or I have a manual switch to turn the fans on .

That is great that you were able to make a 5.2" fan fit in that space. Its a tight one for sure. Do you have anything that will keep the fan from wearing a hole through the end tank or transfer tubes like a rubber hose cut in half and over the fan shroud edges?

I have nothing on the end tank or transfer hose protecting them. I don't see a need for it. I have over 10,000 miles with my fan this way with no problems. The fan only fits one way . One zip tie on the frame one under the radiator cap and one to the oil hose clamp. My bike never over heats with that big extra fan in the deep sand.
