Here is another good one. A little less scary:

I probably wouldn't shoot anyone over a bike but I would certainly beat them with their own helmet.

Not a bike but a dude in Chch put a pig knife under his seat after the attempted theft one night of his Hilux.
He said a few hours later he heard the dude was back due to the man with the knife in his arse making some mild noises of surprise. He took off in the getaway vehicle so the Hilux owner wandered on down to the ER and sure enough there was only one dude in there with a knife wound to the arse that night. He ended up behind bars (although probably only for a short time sadly) and in an ideal world lost the ability to produce semen.

The fuzz were keen to charge the owner for laying the trap, but luckily sense prevailed

I have no sympathy for the bike thief.
The only reason I wouldnt shoot a bike thief is bc the state of MD would send me to jail for it.

I think death may be a bit much but certainly removal of a hand would suffice. If caught again they lose the other one.
If criminals know there are consequences like this I think crime rates will drop. Biggest problem is the light sentences that criminals are getting. The reward is certainly worth the risk, sadly that's the mentality unfortunately.

+1

No reason they should have to go through life with functioning knee caps either.
