Jarbidge, Nevada USA
Taken on a mountain road near Jarbidge Nevada. Jarbidge is a cool little town in Northern Nevada that was founded as a gold mining camp. There are about 20 permanent residents year-round, and during the summer there are maybe 100.
This is Helen and Orn in Jarbidge. Helen moved to Jarbidge with her folks when she was a little girl and saw the town grow from a gold camp to an actual town. They live in So. Cal during the winter and come back here during the summer. Orn isn't her first husband, I think he's her younger boyfriend. When I was riding through the town, I stopped and walked around. Orn saw me on my bike and called out to me to stop and shoot the shit. They invited me in to talk about my adventure, fed me some fresh peaches and ice cream. Orn showed me his photography, and Helen regaled me with stories of Jarbidge during the gold rush. It was also a chance to pitch her autobiography - about guess what? Growing up in a gold rush town. They were so nice I felt kinda obligated to buy it even though I was pretty broke.
