ferry Larne to Cairnryan

We, three bikers from Belgium, are planning trip Ireland and Scotland. We are planning to take the ferry from Larne to Cairnryan around 16, 17,18 or 19 july 2013.
Do we have to make reservations for the crossing at forehand or not..?????

thanks a lot ,

Or Larne - Stranraer....or a Scottish port from Belfast?
