I have been discussing possible routes with SGB.
If folks are interested, we could go from Hayak to Lake Keechelus on the FS roads that parallel I-90 on the north side. Then cross to the south side of I -90. There is a nice loop using FS 54 over Stampede pass to Lester, then FS 52 which connects with FS 41 just short of Tacoma pass and back FS 54 Its roughly 55 miles round trip, and takes roughly 3 to 4 hours depending on stops. These are good FS roads suitable for all types of rigs. So far it looks like 5 Urals and 1 BMW rig. FS 41  FS 52  Stampede Pass  FS 54

Howdy All,
Yup totally safe ride, well we did have one fellow go over the side of the mountain but no serious injuries and we managed to recover the rig which had very little damage, come out and play with just be advised we are the type of people your Mom warned you about.

My own journey home was not without mishap myself.... After leaving windmill on I-90, Kathy and I picked up a nail in our front tire and spent an hour by the side of the road doing a tube repair. Would have been done a little faster had I not forgotten that the front axle is left hand thread. The re-install took me about 15 minutes of struggle before I remembered it was left hand thread
 We had a great time and so glad we all made it home safe. |

V-Strom's a pretty tough rig. I ran mine off the toad a few times and never more that a broken mirror or a scratched fairing. Who dat with the 1100 rescue rig? Must be Jay, right? |

I am so jealous I was not able to make it. The road from Manchester, CA to Eureka, CA was fantastic today. Cool and sunny. Now 3 days in Eureka before heading home.
Thanks for the pictures and great ride reports. The motorcycle Gods were looking after you today. |

There was only about an inch of snow, inclines modest ,the roads in decent condition, and most of the rigs were on street tires, I think only Dave and I had more aggressive tires, and Jay was running regular car tires, Nobody was having any issues with traction. Glen has the OE tires on his Storm, and being a new rig pilot, it sounds like he just found the limits of traction for sport tires. I have a rope puller, but I'm pricing electric winches.
