Out with the old, in with the new

I finally decided to upgrade my old ADVMonster lights

for a pair of these new Optimus 10* spots

I had the old lights for 2+ years and for what I paid for them I really can't complain. One unit had a burned out LED element which by itself wasn't too bad. The real frustration for me was the cheap mounting system which I could never tighten down enough to keep the lights from vibrating out of position after some spirited offroad riding.

Once I opened the box from Cyclops the difference in build quality was apparent.. these lights are really well made of top quality materials. Well, given the price differential I had expected that.

But I wasn't prepared for the difference in light output.. holy crap!

My old lights would basically throw about as far as my HID headlight and provide some fill.

These things easily throw 3x the distance.. probably more.. which is amazing especially when you consider these have 1 LED per light versus 3 LED's in my old lights.

I still need to work on aiming them a bit but so far very impressed and pleased with the purchase.

Thanks Cyclops!

Are you getting some decent fill along with the distance?

Sometimes there are vendors who are not trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

Sorry I missed this.
The dimmer option is in the drop down menu. It is not sold separately.
Would a photo help? Typ the dimmer module would be mounted behind a fairing or placed somewhere that you cant see it.
All you would see on the bike is a switch. Some have set the lights up so there is no switch at all,(using factory switches) But I think most would like to have the ability to completely turn the LEDs off.

Thanks to all who have checked out this thread and in particular to all who have purchased a set of Long Range lights, light bars, etc..
I hope I have talked to most of you.

I would like some feedback from those who might be watching this thread.

Are the options clear and understandable?

Is it tough to make a choice as to what beam pattern might work for you?

Are we offering too many options?

Is there something you would like to see, that has not been covered?

Thank You!!

Some pics of different lights in the same environment, with reference objects (something normal that most viewers could relate to and know the size) would be very helpful. With the lights being the only variable, we could have a very effective way to see the beam differences.
Some examples of what I speak of:
http://reviews.mtbr.com/2013-bike-lights-shootout-backyard-beam-photos#slider-pro-2-0

http://reviews.mtbr.com/2013-bike-lights-shootout-mtbr-tunnel-beam-patterns

An environment where beam spill and beam depth are demonstrated would be nice. Some distance markers would also be nice. I know it is a big project, but it would answer all our questions on the lights available.

Thanks Ned.
I really appreciate your comments.
We will no longer be providing photos of competitors lights.
Being accused of playing with photos did not sit to well with me. No wonder why many companies do not engage forums.
We will let the Magazine reviews and customer comparisons take care of that.
There are photos in this thread with distance markers. More to come.
We will try to get some life size objects in most photos done in the future.
Our Main focus is quality and reliability, That is really what sets the products we carry over what others on this forum offer.
No Photos can adequately demonstrate that.

Based on numerous emails and Pms, My thoughts are we are offering too many choices on beam patterns and dimming options.

I agree, no need to show competitors stuff. Pics with good beam shots will highlight what you offer.
Yes, too many choices can make decisions hard. The subtle differences between beam patterns/mixes may be insignificant in actual usage.
Thanks for being so open to consumer input. :-)

We got to do some testing of these lights in Death Valley over the weekend.

I was not able to get pictures but let me put it this way.

The 10/20deg long range lights were phenomenal in a desert environment. They really cast a huge amount of light and certainly lived up to the hype.

We got to view them in a desert terrain out to about 400+ feet and the light was very good. I can see these being a good addition to any desert racer's repertoire of lights.
