Andrew,
I am pretty sure for US to European you add 10 to the number. I tried on some BMW gear to get a fit and I wore a 58 which was 48 US. Click here-Look at bottom chart

Yes, that's correct, Euro size 56 would be US size 46, but check the BMW sizing chart for proper fit.

Thanks. Seems 42R is the correct size for 34/32 pants size. Looks like I'm gonna get me the VM.
Thanks a bunch. Andrew

So how are things a year later?
I have enjoyed reading the various good reports on the BMW VM. It is refreshing to hear such good reports.
I want a protective suit that will provide excellent coverage from Road Rash, but I also need cooling for the hot days of summer. I had been directed towards the stiff Air Mesh products from Motoport. If I cannot get my leg over the seat, that's a problem. It seems the BMW product is the cat's meow. I wonder how the owners feel about your purchase, here a year later? Also, can anyone provide helpful information about the optional hip armor? I cannot find any information on their website. By the way, the only way I could bring up the VM product on the BMW dealer apparel website was to do a search. I could not find it under the normal BMW product listing for jackets. Thank you for your help, recommendations and comparisons to the Air Mesh products from Motoport. |

got a chance to use it a few times already
So I got the whole VM suit in winter to get a bit of $$$ off. I am 6'1, 185 and ordered BMW's size 52 based upon lots of good advice in the site here. The suit fits perfectly. I also ordered extra armour for the pants and it is a nice fit. Actually today I managed to wrestle the VM pants on top of my work pants to ride to the office. Had to remove the optional armor thou. I love the fit, styling and the ventilation. It looks like it will get a lot of use this summer. Now the only thing is... the stifness of the collar. It just rubs the heck off my neck. I need some solution for thatlittle problem. I know some folks have complained about this in this thread. What have you ended up doing about it, any suggestions, ideas are appreciated.
And thanks to all those who put their $.02 in and recommended the suit.

Joe R??
Can anyone explain the difference between the VM jacket and one of the under $200 variants from First Gear or Joe Rocket? Joe Rocket Phoenix is also mesh and quite cool in summer, has pads and seems to be well made. The fit is a little looser than the BMW, but other than that, what's the difference, and is it worth the extra $$?

I'm still using mine since the original post.....The collar softens over time and the general stiffness of the entire outfit decreases as well. When it was brand new and even now on hot days, I wear one of those cool gel neck scarves(??)/ neckerchiefs(sp?). Hope this helps....take care
