Yes. I took a short look at them. I didn't think they had enough ankle protection and the material was quite soft. I'm not sure how durable they would be even for just street use.

Tried them on, almost hate to say I really liked them... Not as hardcore as a MX boot, but more substantial than a quality road boot, and taller as well. I'm tempted.

Special Intro price on these is $79.99, that price is good until 1/2/13 They are supposed to be waterproof (but they said the same on their crappy, crappy gloves).

The new First Gear Katmandu should be available any time, I think price on those is $152.

I can't speak to the quality of either.

I'm not a huge fan of BILT, but $80 for a leather boot? I tried 'em on and are comfy so I bought a pair. I didn't take the only pair in the store that was my size because some of the stitching was coming loose, so I had the "salesperson" order a pair for me.

They seem to have a "steel-toe" type insert, and a stiff sole, though it doesn't feel as though they're shanked. If it turns out they aren't actually waterproof (although they are advertised as such I really don't expect them to be) I figure I can Snow-Seal 'em for the desired effect.

I was just reading about a guy who had to resole his comparable (in design) SIDIs after only a year of use. If I have to buy another pair in a year because these are worn out I'll still be about $200+ ahead.

I can update on my experience with 'em if anyone wants to know, but so far so good.

Cheers!

Yes please update...

I am sure they are not GREAT but I bought a pair of Sidi Doha boots so I could wear them into meetings with my Kevlar jeans and not look to our of place. The sole rubber was so soft I wore them completely off at the toe from coming to a stop. I bet they were half way gone in a month. On the other hand I wore some REI hiking boots and that some toe section has zero wear after an entire season. Sidi may make some really nice boots but in my opinion the cost is not justified and other less expensive boots can be found that are at least as good or better.

I'm not a big fan of velcro or zippers on footwear at all, but at this price, if others have had good experiences with them, I might give them a shot. I've been considering switching from leather combat boots to dedicated riding boots, but the $300+ prices for the others I've been considering have been rather discouraging.

Just curious.. Are you dragging your toes when you stop?

I checked out the boots without trying them on. For the money they do look tempting. They use Hipora for the waterproof membrane- just like FirstGear gloves I own. All my non-Gore Tex boots had leaked in a year or two. However BiLT has a 5 year warranty, and if Cycle Gear will replace them 4 years later, the possibility of the leakage shouldn't be an issue. Protection is flimsy for Adventure boots- I'm comparing with much more expensive TCX Infinity and SIDI Armada, but many touring boots are on the same level.
