I got a pair, not MX boots, but you know that goin in. I have a pair of old Thor boots from the early "80s with velcro, and I love em. Been patching those things up for years. So I was glad to find some more with velcro. If you're ridding hard enough to need more protection....get stronger boots. If not these are comfortable, and usable for lesser work.

Picked up a cheap pair of Bilt street boots Black Friday that seem adequate. If they start falling apart I can replace them for 5 years so why not...They don't compare to other race oriented boots but will suffice for shorter rides...

Bilt explorer boots

Just bought a pair and had to return them.......good looking boots but sizing is small.....VERY SMALL.....wear 11's bought 12's and still were so tight in the toe area (they have a built in plastic toe protector) I couldn't get them on wearing a good pair of boot socks.....good looks don't make it for a bad fit to me !!!!

ordered some a week ago, they arrived today

bilt explorer adventure boots, they were on sale for $49.

It appears to be a decent boot for the price.

I wear a 12-12.5 shoe, I ordered size 13 bilt boots, they fit, but not with 2 pairs of thick socks, they do run small.

and the rubber on the sole IS very soft, I can tell because it feels nice to walk around in these boots, squishy even.

I plan to test the water proofness ( bathtub maybe) and wear them a few rides, if they totally suck Ill return them.
but I think for the price , they are pretty decent for most of the riding I do

I ordered some gloves too, about the same, they are claimed to be water proof, Ill test that, they are thinner than some of the cortech gloves I have.

demon waterproof motorcycle gloves

they look like cortech scarab gloves, but are thinner, ( wimpier) they do have some sort of insulation, but its not thick, Ill test them for cold too, I have several winter gloves to compare them to, I am skeptical that they are warm or waterproof.

normally I wear XL gloves, so I ordered 2xl, they fit, but not with my thin little liners, so again I think the gloves run small too.

and I ordered these
http://www.cyclegear.com/eng/product...ves/web1010127
to get the total over $100 for free shipping.

I like them the most of the 3 items, other than the stupid batman looking knuckle things sticking up.

ok, shower tested.

Boots are dry to several minutes of various settings of a wide open hand held shower head, and I do have good water pressure.
I could feel the cold through the boots ( one pair of thin socks)
but my feet stayed dry.

demon gloves, same test.

held up in front of shower head, couldnt feel the cold through them like the boots, hands stayed dry, I even tried to spray up under the little armor pockets on the gloves.

I think they are are truly waterproof.

more so than some of the other "waterproof" products I own from brand name makers.

again though, they do run really small, if I could exchange the boots for size 14s I would, but 13s are the largest they make.

not bad bargain gear, when on sale, gloves were $39, boots were $49

BTW these boots are the same as the firstgear Kathmandu boots.

the firstgear boots have buckles instead of velcro on the 2 straps, but visually, they seem to be identical in every other way ( stitching, flaps, tread pattern)

Are the Bilt boots made in Pakistan like the Firstgear boots?

Bilt is the worst brand of utter shit you can buy. It feels ok when you try it on, but within one week it will be unraveling. I don't know what happened to cycle gear, they used to sell close outs from good manufactures, now they have their own brand of Chinese crap to peddle off on unsuspecting newbies.

one week unraveling would certianly be covered by the 5 year warranty I would think..
if this stuff comes apart, It will get returned, and reported here.
