NW Ark/SW MO

Looking to do a ride up to NW Ark and SW MO in the spring. Probably in April. We'll be riding up from'NE Louisiana on a R1150R and a VStrom, so no dirt. How about some ideas about routes, sights, etc. ?

Thanks

Whether we come up the west side and loop back down the middle or vice versa is open to discussion. It probably doesn't matter much as we will start and end in the same place.
The Barbeque place sounds pretty good. At this early stage I'm soliciting ideas for sights, roads, and also any pitfalls we should avoid. Any advice is good advice.

Probably 4-5 days, lodging, mileage usually about 200-350 day (sometimes up to 500), depending on where we are and where we're going.

let me ask this, do you guys have GPS and if so, would you like some preplanned routes? or will you use analog navigation?

You know asking what routes to take in NW AR and SW MO is like saying "I just got a $20,000 bonus - what do I spend it on?"

I think there are a couple of treads or posts some where buried here answering that same question. Sounds like we may ought to start a Pavement Routes Thread. Mad Maps has a lot of these marked but they charge for them.

That's a good amount of time and sounds like you ride about like I do on distance per day. I'd get to the Hot Springs area, move over through Mena, on over and come up western side to Fayettevile. From there up to SW MO, over to Branson, out 160 and down to Mt. Home, back down to Jasper area and speed a couple days there. Then blast back home. Like Doc said there are plenty of people that can put together gpx files for those areas and different routes. Or just do it on Google maps. Let me know which one you want and I can start posting some that I like in those areas.

We got until April and in the mean time, I am going to build a GPS Thread for Arkansas Road Tours in the laying down tracks section..we can start setting the GPX files there for folks who wanna ride tarmac here.

Anyone and everyone who has any GPX files for AR, put them in that thread and I will catalog them

and maybe by april, acejones will have many to pick thru!

EDIT: Ok, I got the thread started, now let the construction begin!

I'd suggest basing out of Clarksville. It's the best jumpoff point to be able to hit all the good roads.

Just keep adding info if ya'll will. Not keen on spending the night in any dry counties. We will us GPS, but probably in a macro sense. Google maps routes will be very useful.
Thanks

Meh, 10 miles to a wet one. Besides, it's about the riding. You can get drunk at home.
