Thumb First Enduro build Up For Long Trip. Russia .

Hello guys! My name is Mikhail I'm from Russia Saint- Petersburg, last year i'm reading some threads from this great forum ! I'm appreciative for your experience and great works with your bikes)
My english not very well) i'm sorry, but will try to find true words)
My short story about my way to this forum is my love to Journey) and of course on two wheels too) My last 5 years was only on Harley with Harley and around Harley) I Love your country and true bulletproof manufacturing! we are lost it after Soviet fall.. and now we may use only US or some old USSR good stuff for work and our life at big city..I'm mechanic and i think all my live) i like doing something by hand, repairing and last 7 years i'm working with motorcycles now at workshop.
So about journey, yes) last time i was in US at year ago, i bought Softail custom '88 year by craigslist from one guys in Albany, bought tent and some stuff and going around to south along to westcoast and back through north to New York it was awesome trip with great places , friendly people..with opened hearts) and other nice appointments with great experience )it was about 3 month on bike)

And this long trip make start for thought about real trip not long like diameter of our planet but little bit more than was last. I was thinking about deep Russia or Asia..and i Understand that my bike should be more landed for deep research some territory around my way..I was thinking very short) i was understanding where i should looking for...I take notice of your choice with XR650R) reading , thinking, comparing and i was understand that you know best way) my trust to you, to Honda.
So i Bought from Michigan by craigslist 2001 Xr650R at summer and received it several month ago. Bike was average shape, seller told that it in good shape, but ok, it's all on our karma) last 3 year bike was not served i think, because, wheels was 08 year and had no wear . Bike has some extras like damper, fat bar, t4 exhaust , vector gauge and other stock looks like not big miles ..Engine was opened i think at one of the last maintenance..not certain. compression gauge viewed 120 psi. I didn't understand how it..i think not bad ) because it my first kickstarter bike like a Dual Sport bike.
Ok i was riding about month up to first snow, now i started full rebuild around engine for Adventure..
This thread will about my build up, preparation and planing trip to indonesia from Saint-Petersburg at near future!
have a good time! Peace

Wow, your US trip was almost the same one I did in the 80's on a Triumph Bonneville.
I just added Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

It sure is great to live in BIG countries! Russia must have lots of great riding!

Installed 200w RM stator...very wanted to buy BD stator but they said that they are rewinding old only..

I Also bought used full XR's only exhaust on ebay for good price, wrapped it .

Rebuild caliper

Insulate tank for better airflow and overheating..

Install BRP submount

Looking Strange)

Several days was rebuilding shocks with some story that not met before. it's rusted slider in the fork...only after drilling through slider i could taking off tube from leg.. not air heater or some powerful kicks not did it..

bought also new neo covers ,Anybody used it!? how long time it may work!?

Forks had 350cc oil in each .. i guess it's not true,?! because by manual i fill it with 640cc in each...

Благодарю!)

And Hello again! Time is very fast..week was going off..I had chance to build skid plate and do some little work under next steps..

Building some things is the best way for imagination) Usually i make it only in the present time like freehand or improvisation..
so please lets see)
made pattern

Cutting it from 4mm Aluminium

cut a both sides and bent it.

made ties holders for left side

and thought about pump storage for full using free space...i thought about some big storage but made skid plate not enough the wide i think it's okey too.
