On Speed

FOX Sports has signed a multiyear deal with Dorna Sports for broadcast rights to the world’s most prestigious motorcycle racing series, the MotoGP World Championship, with races to air on SPEED and the newly announced, multisport FOX Sports 1 in 2013. or not

Something is up. Colin didn't do any dry laps. Maybe a bike malfunction or something.

Yamaha has been giving Colin several gifts lately. Maybe he is to spearhead the engine lease program next season?

Just guessing. He says the spec ECU is terrible, though.

Colin got SO close to winning a GP at Assen (-06?)... sad to say, that looks to be the closest he ever got! And he's a very, very good rider, he finished fifth in overall standings behind the "4 aliens" not so many years ago, riding a satellite Yamaha.

If there is one rider, who would deserve to win one, that's Colin. Not a snowballs chance in hell on the bike he's now on, though.

I agree and can imagine a two-year "sentence" on the Duc that impresses someone and then a decent satellite ride for him.
Ducati has several different spec bikes at the test including a couple of "lab" bikes that they are all testing. Dovi and Hayden were out on bikes with black fairings yesterday. Pirro is right there with the rest of them too.

My thought is this: what is by some chance Ducati actually makes huge strides? There will be four factory Ducatis suddenly competitive. Maybe trying to get second tier riders on the podium will make the bike even better than it needs to be.

Didn't Rossi go fast on the Duc at a wet Jerez race, too, he even collected Stoner when his ambition outweighed his talent and still finished something like top-5?

Colin said the conditions were nasty so no reason to go out. He says he's happy with the test and the bike is improving. "The bike is ready, It's a good package".

I would really love to see Cal win one this year. He works so damn hard on the track. Plus, how bad ass would it be to see Iannone podium sometime? That would just rule!

Can't say that I am a fan of either but +1 to that. I hope we are not sick of the DP, JLo, MM podium by the end of the year.

I don't see Bradl making the podium often enough for it to become annoying.

That's my take on the Jerez test: Weather was poor, so the numbers are pretty meaningless.

It was nice to see Rossi at the front on day 2, but clearly, this isn't a "normal" situation. Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Marques, Rossi -- that seems to be the fighting order, as shown not by one day of testing, but by every day of testing except for this latest session.

In an interview after today, Rossi said he wasn't too keen on the new chassis. I have to wonder about superstition, versus data and facts.

Specifically, Rossi did well in strange conditions, on the "standard" chassis yesterday. He did not do as well on the new chassis, today. What are the chances he's selecting a chassis based on the idea that the "standard" chassis is "more lucky" because he was at the top of the timing charts yesterday?

Anyway... another week and change, and we can finally be rid of this silly season!
