Just a warning on the ATV...you will probably end up being a recovery vehicle (refer to last years slap reports :) ).
There are tons of ATV trails out there. By the way, your Harley would have beautiful pavement to ride on all day if you so desired. Whatever you bring to ride, showing up puts you in the "in". You could also carry extra beer, tools,...hmm...maybe it would be nice to have an ATV ! David is a local and will be joining us on his little 4 wheel monster, so you would not be the only one. |

^ These.
And we wouldn't shun you for being on a Harley. Don't sweat it. Though hosted by ADV, this rally welcomes all makes and models. You decide which sounds more fun to you and bring it. Or bring both.

Picture from a couple years ago taken at Turner's Bend, which is just up the road from Byrd's.
As you can see, even during the midst of an ADV rally, we're still outnumbered by Harleys. ![]() 4 wheelers are useful, too. Bring 'em both.

All around Byrds there are wonderful old homesteads to be found and explored..bring your cameras.
![]() There are double track trails/roads like this one all throughout the hills.Good for bigger bikes or even ATV's. These trails can also be found via single track. ![]() This is the road to Oark General Store that runs along the Mulberry River. Road is in great shape and they do not ticket us for no plate on bikes or four wheelers between Byrds and Oark. ![]() There are some good hills for those of you looking to get better at ups and downs or those of you who like to rock these sort of things. ![]() Just West of base camp on the flats there is a jump area set up with several size jumps for playing around. This is Amanda who will be joining us and who lives 3 miles from Byrds!

Bring them both. If you want to ride the Harley, I would be happy to tag along.

We're In!
My wife agreed so we are up for the Adventure! We'll be coming from the Dallas area. We just (as in last week) got her an 05 12GS, and I'm on an 07. This will be our first time out so consider us n00bs. Cant wait to meet and (learn-to) ride!

Updated the OP with a link to the SLAP TRACKS thread from previous years. I forgot how organized and thorough it was, so no point in reinventing the wheel.
And another link HERE. Something tells me that Frog Bayou will be topping most lists.

Hey did any of you Okies call Ms. Paula (479-369-4128) on WRM to let her know of the change in venue? She will need to know so she can book cabins and bunks to someone else.
EDIT: I called Paula and let her know the the venue had changed. She was grateful to have the information because booking season starts shortly for her. So now she's been notified (she's disappointed but understood the reasoning for change of venue).

How are we doing on the Beer Kegs?
Just found out a friend of mine is brewing at the Saddlebock Brewery outside Springdale. This could be a good resource for some kegs. Last October for our Annual Harvest Moon Ultimate Tournament we bought about 100 kegs of beer from them
. WE like to drink beer ![]() Let me know if there is any way I can help with the fluid arrangement ![]() Edit. Beer is 99.00 a keg plus 30.00 for deposit. Earlevet screwed with this post 01-29-2013 at 02:03 PM |
