KVR in June

Is June to early in the year to do the kvr, as far as the weather goes. I live in Missouri and wondering if there would still be alot of snow or if someone could suggest a good time of year to do it. Is it crowded certain parts of the year?

Thanks,
Jonathan

More accurately it is the Mountain Bikers that are the most vocal. They have the "Holier than thou" thing in the worst way. It is slowly being taken over in sections. You just have to be prepared to find go arounds for the sections that are impassable (like just north of Rock Creek) or Like the Myra Canyon trestles (the bypass from when the trestles were burnt is great fun).

My advice would to check on the Dualsportbc site and to do it sooner than later, before the vocal minority gets their way and the whole thing is off limits to motorized vehicles.

As to the initial question: It will depend on the winter, but late June should be doable. It is when I did it in 2010

Not so much "mountain bikers" but rather cyclists making the push. Subtle difference but I thought worth the mention.

No offence intended. I know there are lots of Dual-sporters that also Mountain bike. The attitude comes from the spandex clad "cyclists" with the big money bikes. The same ones that refuse to ride on the paved shoulders and like to ride two (or 3) abreast, even if it means blocking part of the road to motorized traffic and risking life and limb.

The owner of the store in Tullameen commented that they never spend a dime when they ride the KVR through there. The store survives on the ATVs Dual-Sport bikes and dirt bikes that come through, most on the KVR. That and the cottagers. He was instrumental in a petition to keep the KVR open to all. I signed it the last time through. Unlike the cyclists, he has something real at stake, other than ego or ideals.
