Suggestions please: GPS for CDR and mountaineering use.

Suggestions please: GPS for CDR and mountaineering use.

I plan to ride the CDR next August, solo per my usual. As well, I and my family hike and skitour. Thus a GPS for both the CDR and mountaineering is what I wish to have.

I have read some but not yet getting a handle on a choice. Last August/ Sept I rode the WABDR using maps, solo. I would not want to attempt the CDR without the GPS, solo.

Thank you for input if you know about these things...

For hiking, you are limited to HandHeld class. If you are looking at Garmin, there are lots of choices from e-trex to 60/76/78 to others that have state names. Not sure battery life on Montana but I think it is in the running. You question should also have your budget.

Best Bargin 76Cx at WestMarine for $150

Thanks. My next question betrays my ignorance surely- Can I download 'tracks' in that model?

Thanks
