i googled if there's a repeater in the dv area, there are a few outside the park. pablo and traveltoad will surely know if they are reachable from panamint springs.

Hey Joel-

I've tried a million times- NO repeater reception from PSR on 144, 220, 440 bands...
BUT- we are trying to find the HAM operators that put a portable repeater up 1 or 2 years ago.
IF we can find them & place the repeater on top of Hunter. we might have reception from PSR to Hot Springs & maybe even the Race Track area...

Joel, I will do some research. My important points are dual band +, power a headset in the helmet, PTT on the bike so that it is easy to talk and ride. Lastly try to find one that can be powered from the bike while riding.

I MUCH prefer not to have a radio made in China. I am looking at Yaesu, Icom, Kenwood etc. I was hoping to find one that did GMRS too, but there seems to be two manufacturers of that radio and both are Chinese. Deal breaker for me.

I had Kenwoods when I did SAR and they were capable radios but big/heavy. My thought is that the radio would ride in the tank bag. PM with what your upper $ limit is and I'll send you a list.

Only ones I didn't assign numbers are the ones that are coming for one day only. They can just camp where ever they find a spot for their tents.
We have only spot #73 wide open. All other spots have at least 2 riders. Some has 3 or more.
Also I couldn't find enough info for the following participants. Please let me know your details.

I will be doing the Steel Pass loop again on Friday. There will be 12 riders. Can you carry gas for us? I have a couple 5 gallon plastic cans we could use, or we can buy it from you at the Springs. Let me know your preference if you are going to be at the Springs on Friday.

I can sell you the gas- How much will you be needing & what octane?
I have a group coming thru on Sat. requiring 12 gallons of 91 Octane(big European bikes)
I''ll charge what the Shell station charges @ PSR plus 1$ per gallon, minimum purchase is a Jerry can(6 gallons). If your group is 12 riders, Then I can sell you 2 Jerry cans, then each bike can take a gallon. If you need more, I will bring more gas.
Does that make sense?

I think we should be MC3 and we have no camp spot designation. We signed up for the tent cabin thing'a'ma'jig.
