FYI for anybody else who loves their old (cheap) GPS as much as I do I'm working on truncating all the waypoint names down to eight characters. I'll share the work for anybody who needs.

Also since I'll have the Jeep I will have my navigation laptop with me, it's a pretty simple setup but if you want to dump / load waypoints stop by, you'll need the cable for your GPS.

Amazing what I can accomplish while babysitting furniture installers.

A note on comms...

It is confirmed that I will be supplying a simplex repeater for the event. It's not the most elegant device but should help in keeping the groups in contact.

For the support folks in camp I'd suggest getting your technician class license if you don't already have one. Go to www.qrz.com and take the practice tests until you pass consistently. There is still time to do this!

For those in cars
A budget 65W radio can be found here
If you get this one I can help you program it in camp.

Motorcyclists!
Handheld is what you want. Personally I'd get a dual band radio.
This cheap Chicom radio seems to be decent for a throw-away price, I'd get an antenna like this though.
For more you can get a reputable brand like this. You'll still want an antenna like this though (note this is a different antenna than the last radio).

Car folks can use the handhelds too. If we're able to place the repeater in a good spot 5W should do it, if you think you'll be doing support often though I'd consider a full power radio.

If anybody has any questions feel free to ask. I may not know the answers as I'm not really all that heavy into the radio thing, I just use them a lot in the backcountry.

I might have broken or fractured my wrist riding this past weekend.

Have an appointment on Fri to get it looked at - if it's broken I'll have to back out, and possibly open a spot for someone.

Hope your wrist is fine but if you drop out I want take your spot. I will be sharing the campsite (#69) with Sampath (BT3) & Chetan (tekurides). I did this last year but somehow wasnt able to sign up in time this year as I was out of the country for over 6 weeks.

you could put your name on the waiting by asking ersin (FYYFF).

don't have to wait for novos to bail out. someone probably on the fence right now.

folks, after feb.15 there is no more 50% refund.

the full refund ended jan. 31st.
