Where's the prtable generator thread?

Bought this just now on an impulse. Please somebody tell me they are an OK generator. 5 positive reviews on Amazon, but thats all I got. I cant afford the Honda's so thats why I skimped.

Never heard of them but start it up and run it every other month and it should be fine.

Good reviews for the most part here.

Made in China, just like everything else.

Most of the Chinese made small motor appliances (that I've seen) are almost direct copies of Honda motors. That generator look almost exactly like a bigger version of my 3800w Honda. It should be reliable and give many years of service given proper maintenance. Probably even uses Honda replacements parts...

If you google "honda 338cc" you'll find a wide array of china generators that use the design.

My neighbour has the same brand, but next model up with e-start. So much quieter than mine. He has no complaints.

they run good. I have a 4500 in blue. different name on it. all run fake Honda motors. they are almost as quite as a Honda. the big thing to remember is when you run it turn the gas off and let it run until it runs the carb dry. You will think me the next time you try to crank it. mine would normally crank on the 3 or 4th pull. I had another fake Honda motor with a E-start I took what I needed off it and swapped it to the Gens motor and made it a E-start. I did this because the one weak point is the pull start on the smaller motors.

Thanks for the replies. I hope its an alright unit. That brand seemed like it had less negative reviews then the other kinds, but they are all probably the same thing once you scratch the paint off of them.

9 times out of 10 people have problems with Gens. because of something they do. not the gen its self. but people are not as smart as they use to be so they take them back and write bad reviews LOL

I caught two 3500W generators at the end of a sidewalk sale at Harbor Freight... $60 each, so I bought both of 'em!

Got them home... wouldn't start. Flushed the fuel system out on both of them and they both work great now. I use the heck out of one, while the other is mothballed until I need it.

I have it and it ran great for the hour I had it running so far. I'm going to run it a few more hours and change the oil as soon as it cools down some. Its been too hot to mess with it. Also, waiting for the electrician estimate to get the box changed so I can just hit the switch for the fridge, lights, TV, furnace blower and stuff like that.

Seems like a well built unit. I like it. A tad loud, but its a generator. I'll let you know some more here in a week or so.

I think this is the portable generator thread.

I was trying to find the Honda Lust thread to be a smart ass and stumbled across it. ---BTW where is the Honda Lust thread?

Thanks Jurgen, but i'll stick with this thread since the only mention of the brand I bought was less than favorable.
