Always wear a helmet............... This was the end result a couple of years ago on a boreen in January in Co Donegal.

Just a bit of concussion and a few bruises. Bike totalled.

And the Harley guy's laugh at us for riding in full gear. Wonder if they still do after these images. Consider what you head would look like with-out a helmet?? Oh yea, I saw a Harley rider dead on the side of the road with his helmet in his side case. Great place for it...

I see once again the mods had to jump in to make sure that this stays a nice touchy-feely site thats seeeeeeeeeeensitive and doesn't offend anyone or hurt someones feeeeeeeelings.

What did you do, ride through a brick wall? I'm sure it will buff out.

Yeah, I won't even ride up and down the residential block without my full face. I do pull the bike into the garage without gear, though (steep, short driveway).

I see them all the time on my way to work, and they give me a weird look bc Im wearing a helmet, jacket, gloves and boots. I see them with no helmet or gloves and wearing a vest. I guess image is everything.

Tell me about it.... when my wife and I got flattened by a car at fairly low speed just about a year ago, from the looks of the helmets, had we not been wearing our full face helmets, both our jaws would have been wired afterwards, if they had stayed on our faces that is! I threw our old 3/4 helmets in the trash as soon as we got out of the hospital.

The off was at slow speed I think. Knew the road was a tad icey so slowed down and remember the last thing was looking at the speedo which showed 20 mph. The next thing I was talking to a local to see if i was ok. I had no idea where I was or what happed to me. I looked around and saw that I had taken my lid off, placed my gloves and ear poppers in it and then saw my bike, which was lying in a shuck facing in the direction I had come from. Bike was totalled. I had a cut to my nose and a few bruises to my body. Nothing to much. When he ambulance arrived, the paramedics when putting me in, remarked on the amount of protection I was riding in. I definately believe if I hadn't the back protector on, my river dancing days were over. Here's a pic of the snout. Looks worse than what it was. ........




Guys who want to ride lidless need certifying. Might look cool in the moment but I'd rather look uncool than look
like a vegetable. Body protectors are another must have.

Shoei multi tec on top,

BMW city trousers with hip and knee/shin protectors,

Gortex jacket with knox back, elbow and shoulder protectors,

BMW body protection kit.

Agree.

Main roads were clear and dry as a nuns letter box.

Boreens are unpaved (mostly) roads, with grass growing up the middle of 'em, icey or not are negotiable and are good craic.

Yep. +1 on that! Full face is the ONLY way to go.

I have the twin to that helmet sitting in my garage. Same make, pretty much the same damage too. My son-in-law hit the shoulder at over 100 MPH, and got away with only a pinned wrist, broken collar bone, bruised ribs, and some wicked road rash. Would have been a different story had he not been wearing the full-face helmet.
