Looking at F650CS 2003

It has 9k on the clock. It's been we'll maintained and is in good cosmetic shape.
Non ABS model. Includes tank bag, KooCase rear trunk, heated grips, 2003 model.
Any feedback on the bike would be appreciated. The price seems fair based on NADA
values. Tks in advance...

Sorry they are asking 3k for it but throwing in a 200 dollar new tank bag. No pics of it sorry. Hardly a scratch on it but does have normal age fading of the plastic parts. I may not have been to clear on this we are looking to buy it for my wife and just trying to see if it has a good reliable reputation for that model.

i havent owned one but heard guys with them saying its the most reliable of the 650s. with the belt drive its super smooth.

A Scarver owner here. Although it doesn't have ABS, $3k is a good deal. If she wants to ride in town, it's a great bike. If she needs to do a lot of Interstate traveling, it may be a bit under powered. (I'm used to Goldwing on the Interstate, though.) I commute on it almost everyday, 30 miles one-way. I'm getting about 63 MPG, never gotten lower than 60MPG. The maintenance is average. Belt drive is a big plus.

When I got mine with 6000 miles on it, it struggled with surging and stalling. Surging was fixed with trying several different plugs. Stalling was fixed by changing the battery from the acid type to maintenance free one. These problems seem to be common among all F650 from that era.

Thanks for the replies and for the link. She most likely want buy but is still considering it. We to think it's a fair deal even though it's pretty much equal to nada value. Sorry no pics.

I can't comment on the value, but overall it's a really good bike, with the stuffbay and it's good for cities and commuting. I have used mine for long distance travel and I like it, though it is happier on smaller roads than motorways. Top happy speed is about 85-90mph though I have got it up to 105mph (feels scary, this is the biggest bike I have ridden though). I never push it about 95mph.

I have a Givi topbox on it which is great, you need the special mounting kit designed for this bike.

There is a specially designed pair of bags for this bike.. one mounts onto the rear rack and the other attaches to that with a zip and rests on the rear seat. I don't use it as I like to carry a passenger here and there so I have the Givi.

The stuffbay is really useful. For leaving a helmet there, carrying extra luggage etc.

I think the earlier ones don't have a rear suspension adjuster but the newer ones do. In the UK, this is the 2003+ ones I believe. The models in the US are a year or something behind the European models, but anyways, the upgraded shock with adjustment was an optional accessory in Europe.

I think the bike is really good for the ladies due to it's lower height, and this is a popular model for them, I have heard. I'm 172cm (5 foot 7 or 5 foot 8) and I like it.

The model was meant to steal some of the scooter-commuter market share thus it's design, which is rather different to a normal motorbike.
