Big Bear Area GPX files?
I could use some good ride suggestions for the Big Bear area. I'm planning to be at my place in Crestline with a few inmates this weekend. We are all n00bs so those routes would be prefered. 80 to 200 mile range would be idea.
Any suggestions? Cheers! PS: My email is dmulk 'at' yahoo.com PPS: I have a Garmin and Mapsource |

http://www.dualsport-sd.com/forums/i...showtopic=5454 Track file description = ~50 mile south loop......~35 mile north loop.......threw in one short single track on both loops.......wouldn't suggest southern single track for big bikes and/or really new riders......northern single track is no big deal for anyone......it just breaks up the monotony of riding fire roads..... As Jerry replied, there's lot's of stuff in the area......the attached file is just meant to be a one day/~85 mile/easy "sampler" of areas south/north. Lot's of other noob stuff in Holcomb Valley.......or ride back and forth to Pioneer Town.....search for tracks on GPSXchange..... EDIT: a few stretches are closed off now........IRRITATING.......but still easy to find a work around if you have a decent mapset in your GPS

Pinnacles Loop - Arrowhead
For the more advanced class
......50 mile loop from the Pinnacles staging area......run it in either direction (though we generally go counter clockwise)....easily accessible from Crab Flats and Big Pine Flat camping areas.....have fun EDIT: There are a few closures on this loop now.....IRRITATING......but still relatively easy to find a work around if you have a decent mapset in your GPS

I would start with the CTUC (Calif Trail Users Coalition) maps for Big Bear. You may get it a the Jawbone Station or on line at Friends of Jawbone.

Another Advanced/Half Day Loop
Another set of tracks from this past Sat for the advanced class....
Trip Report: http://www.dualsport-sd.com/forums/i...showtopic=7577 I edited my active tracks and started Track 01 at the AM/PM Arco at Stansfield cut off on Big Bear Blvd………park somewhere in the vicinity and brim the tanks because you’ll be spinning/using low gears We ran into a few closed trails which are marked with waypoints. Irritating but irrelevant (now) since the tracks will lead you on some other nearby trails we took instead We came across two downed trees which are marked with waypoints (hopefully they'll be removed by the time many of you use this file)……the first one could be ridden over if someone headed out there with a chain saw to remove a few branches.......until that happens, it can be cheated by swinging up high to the left around the tree…….the second downed tree can be cheated by cutting hard right and going up and around it……the upside is the first one is keeping jeeps off John Bull at the moment Total track distance is ~76 miles…..don’t be fooled by the shortness of the loop……..it’s a good ~6 hour ride when you factor in rest stops, jeeps in the way, etc...... Keep track 3 turned OFF on your map until you reach Delamar (to avoid any confusion where the tracks intersect) Have Fun!
