Been eyeballing this one for a while, They have it on CL for $2700 or make an offer. I am 6"3" and am not sure if I will fit it. 68K miles.
Or I may sell a bike or two and find an '11 or '12.

Picked up a 2012 R1200R in April of last year. First new bike, hell, first bike I ever bought. Last bike was a hand-me-down. It was also my first ever bike.

So after a shake down or two, I went on a road trip with a friend from the S.F. Bay Area up to the top of California, then across the center and down to Whiskeytown and then out to the coast and home. We took a week to do it and 1000+ miles overall. Great sights along the way. I liked Lassen Park and the north east the most for beauty, but the center from Yreka to Whiskeytown past Trinity lake was cool too. The coast was no slouch, but I live on the coast, so it was more familiar.

Here she is.

Mt. Shasta in the background.

I added suspension. The stock Showa stuff isn't up to the bike IMO. Hyperpro makes this shock - Yacugar.

Also added a hugger after a rain ride. Why doesn't BMW provide one stock? That's a question I suppose we'll never know the answer to.

Also did the C Bailey windscreen, handguards, R view mirror extenders and throttle lock by Wonderlich.

Took the bike to the range yesterday. A great ride down the coast, then up into the San Mateo hills and south on Skyline to the range. Locking panniers are great! 110 mile loop, great shooting (1911) and we even packed a lunch and ate it in the sun.

Good times!

This bike is right for me. I sat on one two years ago and knew in that instant I had to own it. Saved like a maniac and when the time was right, walked in and wrote the check.

Got a set of PR3's waiting for when the B021's wear out. They're good, but I expect the PR3's to be even better.

6k check-up right around the corner. Might do it myself. We'll see.

I changed the oil in my 2007 R1200R yesterday. The gasket on the oil filter stayed up on the bike when I removed the filter. It does that every time I do an oil change. I wonder if I am tightening it too much? It is in a bad place to get a good hand tightening on. Something to watch for.

To the question if being 6' 3" is too tall for this bike I'm 6' 2" and my 2002 R1150R was a great fit for me. I still miss that bike.

That's the way to do it! Too many people over extend themselves with payments for a toy they rarely use.

Enjoy the ride.
