Need to find a bike shipper coast-to-coast

Is this the right place to ask for recommendations?

u-Ship

I just had yet another successful, cost-saving experience with u-Ship. I'll continue using that service.

U-Ship - not clear on the concept

I posted with them and got quotes but they were all from major carriers, charging BIG $ to ship. I was hoping (w/UShip) to find an independent carrier or some guy heading east with a half-load.
Who in particular did you end up using? Maybe I can just contact them directly?

If it's Canada for which you're looking, Kurtz Trucking in Breslau, ON has been good for me on 2 occasions. You can probably find cheaper by talking directly to a trucker on a last minute deal, but they're bikers themselves and seem to do a good job (if not being a bit ho-hum and too-easy-going -- them's the independent small-town truckers).

Wicked I tried Snortin' Boar, but went with Federal

Snortin' Boar wasn't heading in my direction at the time so I called around and ended up having a flawless experience with Federal. They picked up my bike at the local Harley dealership (you should've seen the guys checking out my black, badgeless V-strom, scratching their heads) so I wouldn't have to take time off waiting at my house. About 10 days later it showed up on the other Coast, on a pallet. They unhooked it, rolled it off the truck and I signed for it. No problems.

Shipped my bike from California to Texas for a 2 week trip through Mexico. They were fast and efficient.

My local bike shop gave me there number before I did the GDT. It was so easy - they come to your location ( as long as an simi rig can fit) and they box it up (which they supply) - then within two weeks its in the other location. I used it from PA to MT then from NM back to PA for two bikes. Flawless - very pleased.

You should definitely do some shopping around to compare prices and services. I'd caution against going with a small, less established company if you need your bike shipped across the country. I've been pretty happy with A1AutoTransport, but I haven't used them since 2012. Due diligence is important--make sure you do some research about a company before agreeing to anything!
