Thanks. ![]() 34 HP at the wheel, 420 pounds on the scale...rode it to Death Valley, tires wore out eventually. No miles on the truck: ![]() 36 HP at the wheel, 360 pounds on the scale...rode it everywhere, tires were used, truck was not. ![]() Rode to Utah, figured the tires would wear out so I took some more with me. ![]() Oh yeah...44 HP at the wheel, 330 pounds on the scales, some tires were consumed...no truck miles. ![]() My favorite question that I get asked? "Where'd you park your truck?", Me, "It'd better be in front of my house where I left it."

Feel your pain man ... Lots of my buddies can't read a map to stay off superslab either ...
![]() ![]() Pic from inmate Wes Weber's "The original adventure riders (and bikes!)" thread ... Bet most of the bikes in the pic averaged 30 HP up there ... See you in God's country, -- SFMCjohn

Believe it or not, not all of us are in it for the "ride it there and back again" aspect...doesn't make our experience less fun or valid.
We're not all packing everything but the kitchen sink onto our bike and riding a bazillion miles

Thetefore I (and my riding partners) dont have to make the compromises in "maintenance" or "streetability", or tires. Or in weight. So we ride the best bikes for the job and the plates are just a formality some electrons were mildly inconvenienced in the sending of this message

I like riding dirt. With friends. The trails I ride require me to be fresh, with good alertness and control.
Folks that brag "I rode to the trail" are still bragging. About what, I'm not sure though. ![]() I'd rather save my strength, tires and laughs for the trails, then dust up my nuts, fire up a cigar, load up the bikes and drive home. ![]() If anyone thinks that makes me less of a rider than the next guy, that's your problem, not mine. I sleep just fine at night. Being judgmental about something so trivial speaks volumes about one's moral fiber.

Yep. Two different tools for different jobs. I'm one of the lucky ones, all the trails are within 40sec ride from my garage. I can either do small 50km loops, or 600km loops. All from my garage. I love where I live.

Posting PMs or Emails is a very efficient way to get the banhammer dropped. Be aware.

I didn't get involved in this thread because I seen it go south quickly, and won't get involved with foolishness. Any bike has its pros and cons, they are all awsome compared to cages and its what most of us live for, and its about alot more than the machine, its the lifestyle. Advrider is the premier and most active motorcycle forum in the world, and we are all members of and represent it. We should be supporting and encouraging each other regardless of the direction each goes within the community. If you are not doing that, then you should be ashamed !!! We can all educate each other and disagree with each other intelligently, and when a fool comes aboard and starts spreading cancer then ignore him and maybe he will check himself and make adjustments. |
