gear ratios and wheel size?

Just moved from a 17" to an 18" rear wheel on my dr650 and am ordering a new chain and sprockets.

How much will that effect the gear ratio? I love the 14/45 with the 17" wheel and want to keep the new set up as close as possible.

Thanks,

look at the diameter of the 17 tire you ran vs the 18 tire you will use.

use "xf" as suzuki choice, referring to the freewind

you'll have to do some measuring though for custom input

Roughly 2 teeth difference on the rear sprocket, depends on the tires etc etc.

for a Dunlop D606 that change would bump the gearing up around 4%, about like two teeth on the rear as was said, the number would probably be roughly the same for other tires....

(27.40/26.30 - 1) = 0.04
