Wicked wirelessly controlled camera to film yourself riding - SoloShot

I just heard about this new gadget called SoloShot. Has anyone used it?
From the video posted on it's website it looks incredible.
You wear a transmitter on your bike/ or body and then you mount the main device to your camera on a tripod and it will automatically follow where you go. They show clips of it being used in motocross. Any inmates have this? recommend it?

I can't avoid thinking how cool that would have been on the Dalton Highway.
It would be perfect for those long expanses of wilderness, with nobody else in sight.

But looking at the comments about setup, I don't know if it would be worth it on a trip.
Every time you set it up, you have to calibrate the receiver to the transmitter, "warm it up" for 15 minutes, etc.

I think it's designed for setting up and using it for several hours in one spot.

if you're on a track it would be handy, or anything else with a fixed location ... but when traveling, too much hassle i think :)

It won't be long before riders have quadcopters circling them, keeping the rider in the video all the time.

Very cool product! I wouldn't have any use for it, and the price tag is too high for me, but I can see where it would be well worth the money for the right person. Good for them for coming up with such an innovative product.

Too bad it only tracks horizontally. Be nice to see one that both pans & tilts.

Does the bikini babe come with it?

I'd be a bit worried about security... you're out surfin', ridin', whatever and some klepto comes along and just grabs your DSLR & the soloshot and is gone.

But it is a neat idea for the right setting. Track would be cool, and might even be good for instruction, to watch yourself over and over going through a tight turn, checking out your form. Maybe the track schools will get them.

Now that quadcopter... that is way cool. Imaging programming a quad with a GoPro to follow you through some twisties about 30 feet above ya, through the canyons. Now that would be groovy.

After you've seen the video about three times; that's enough.
