I'm not ready to give up my Canon DSLR yet, but I pulled the trigger on a NEX-6 today and am really excited about some of the possibilities...

APS-C sensor, some very decent AF lenses available (at a price point much less than equivalent DSLR glass), plus the ability to shoot legacy glass that has been spending far too much time gathering dust? I'm still going to miss a bright optical viewfinder, but the NEX6 2.3M dot OLED viewfinder is far better than the early mirrorless camera e-finders.

Plus I can pack the camera, long zoom, wide/normal zoom, plus a few primes into a bag smaller than I would need just for my 40D with a 50mm lens.

I have seen a the Nikon D7100 in the shops here in Phuket of late, but not many. Going by reviews and so on, and what I like to do with a camera, it would suit me very well..... but with just the body going for 6 or 7 weeks worth of my pay, and a decent lens near doubling that, I doubt that the step up will be on my budget any time soon!

I am happy to make the most of Fujifilm 10x, which was affordable, at about 2.5 weeks pay.... Heck, even that was more than the little motorcycle that has served my needs for nearly ten years now!

For me, that would be hardly worth the savings in carrying/usability over a full blown body with a couple of lenses. I'm not even close to being at the skill of most of you but the image quality and sheer convenience of something like the Sony RX100 or Canon G1-X is going to be my next camera.

Best of luck, I've got that camera now so if you have any detailed questions feel free to ask.

Did anyone mention the GH2? And one or two lenses. Maybe a 14~142mm? great photos and wonderful HD video especially after the hack.
