GPS Map Question from GPS Dummy

I'm planning a driving vacation to the east coast and back. I've been loaned a Magellan Meridian Platinum GPS and a MapSend "Streets and Destinations USA" CD. I need to install a memory card but I have no idea what size I need to cover essentially the whole northern half of the US. 256? 512? Or? TIA.

I have a 1 gig card in my Garmin which covers about 3/4 of the US...granted your maps are different...but it gives you something to work off of.

I'd trade all my motorcycles for one Flying Dragon.
