Alrighty then. Just got home from Ray's shop. That makes it three days working on the cage. I am pooped...and since Ray did most of the work...I really shouldn't complain. No photos because I forgot the iPhone at Ray's shop.
Besides for a few elements, the main parts are done and it looks pretty sweet. It's been fun and challenging and a bit interesting trying to build a cage in a car with many interior components still in it. Most cages are build on bare bodies. This presented some problems and some work-arounds. But I did not have the luxury of time to tear it all out. I'm tickled pink with the results, and we have a cage that far exceeds the NORRA requirements! The new windshield gets installed tomorrow. I mounted back up the stock seat for now so I can drive the car until Ray has some time to mount the seats and harness stuff. Now we will be shifting gears for a bit...but we are running out of time on some things I had hoped to have done. So, I will be making some adjustments in plans, and some things may have to wait until after the M1K. The big thing might be paint. I may not be a pro-builder but I do a pretty good job of keeping things moving. You have to know what can wait, and what can't. You have to have deadlines, and then have a plan when you can't make some of them. Otherwise, you end up with what you see on Craigslist all the time; an unfinished, disassembled project taking up space in a garage that someone needs gone. That will not happen with this project. We will be in Mexicali for tech inspection and we will be on the starting line! The Sube is running good and by this weekend will be driven hard again!

Race cars only have to look good from the grand stands, just put on a bunch of cool stickers and it will look great!

Ok, car has new windshield in.
Today I talked with Tim at Prevailing Communications. He is our radio/electronics sponsor. He seems like he will be ready for the car in the next week or so. He told me to make a list and break it down into: 1) Must Have 2) Like to Have 3) Sky's the Limit Gotta love a sponsor like that. I'm working on the lists...At the least, the car will be getting a race radio, with intercoms for driver and co-driver and Amber lights to the rear as required by NORRA. Car will also have SRS (airbag) switches, Battery switch and battery relocated to behind seats. Helmets have been ordered. Here is the car as it sits right now in the rain: ![]() I am going to go talk with Lonnie about Graphics ideas since I will probably be stuck using the stock paint for this race. But knowing Lonnie, it will still look pretty damn cool. Jen from NORRA will not be happy unless the car has woodgrain on the side....she is a cool lady...I really hate to disappoint her, but..... ![]()

Leave it looking like a soccer mom's grocery getter.
When you start racing it and passing cars, waving to the fans with numbers on the side... priceless. Good luck with this.
