I would be interested, but really can't afford it. My limited research put the cost way out of my league compared to a little paint when its installed properly. Maybe your friends would want to sponsor us?????

However, I really appreciate your optimistic statement of this thing being a "capable rally subbie" when I'm done with this.

It's a Christmas miracle. Thank you for that!!

Ok, not much updating lately, sorry...I got caught up pontificating on another NORRA thread!!

Ok, there has been some definite forward momentum on the race front. First, Ray is taking the car this week and promises me half of the cage by next week. He has some serious paying customers, so he is going to sneak us in and get the main hoops in

He will then have a 2 week job and then expects to finish the cage up before Feb 1st.

We are building the cage to NASA Rally specs, which is great, because that is the standard that NORRA has gone to with the Rally car classes I brought the car down to Ray, and we drank a beer, measured the car and bs'd about the project.

Yesterday, my wife Laura and I decided to take the Sube up in the hills to find some snow. She took some video with my iPhone and I put it to some goofy music. The point wasn't to show you me going fast, because I'm not. But rather to just show some of the areas we will be training in. We found the snow rather quickly, and since the penalty for failure here is a 300ft cliff, we decided not to push it too much...ok, not at all. It was just a ride up into the hills.

Had lunch with LoudAl on Sunday after our drive. Allan will be chasing Luke and I this year and it was fun to talk about the plans. Luke and I spoke a bit and are finalizing hotel plans. I love this part of the process....booking rooms and making the final build plans for the vehicle.

I started making a list and there are quite a few things that will be happening once the cage is done....

Race seat installed with harnesses
Modify front and rear bumpers
Body prep and paint
Exhaust
Light bar
Graphics
Wheel spacers
Mount GPS
Install race radio/intercoms
Race lights

and a bunch of other things

Tomorrow we will be registering for the Mexican 1000. Only about $2200 bucks for the car and me and Laura to enter So this is why I have not been buying much of the needed stuff...I gotta have the money for registration.

Was looking at the entry list and saw your name there. Still seems odd to see you listed in something other than bikes I see they clearly state "no refunds" on the web site so no backing out now!

I am tempted to send in the entry fee in as well. That will force me to not loose focus with PT and get my knee back to 100% in time. Besides I gotta check out the Outta Sight Subaru in person since I have always been a bit of a Subaru rally fan. Sometimes makes my wife nervous when I driver her Impreza

Lookin great so far!

And in a slight aside, I love the use of orange text to show OP posts. That should be mandatory.

Hack Job?
I'm not sure I like it, but I definitely resemble that remark

Not so sure about the "high-performance" part though

Doug, you better show up! I'm going to be rigging up a way to tow bikes just in case anyone needs it

Wait a minute...I didn't see the "No Refund" part

Of all the places to find a Subaru build I never would have throught it would be ADV! Thanks for posting this great thread.

Did you find any big change in the ride characteristics with the lift and the King springs? I'm at the point of freshening the suspesnsion on my 03 H6 VDC and have just a slight reservation about the King springs adding 1.5" to the ride height. I know the VDC will behave differently than your Subie, but I thought I might get a general idea of the effects.

Looking forward to following your progress. Wish I still lived in Olympia as I would have loved to come down and take a look.

Completely off-topic, but if you use chrome, that functionality is available here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...goiohkjcohfoib
(And it's developed by an ADVrider {not myself})

And Oregoncoast, thanks for sharing the build. I'm learning the subaru art and dreaming vicariously.
