Dr.Benny: Great idea and I hope you can get enough interest in this to get your site going... I joined right away and keep my fingers crossed...
![]() Cuberbob: My offer still stands and you're welcome to come here and visit your "daughter" and ride around here in Scandinavia or Europe depending on how much time you have... ![]() Still looking for a ride in Melbourne though, in case anyone from there could be interested in swapping...?!?! Alex.

This is a tempting idea, considering rental rates. But how do you decide who is responsible for maintenance and repairs?

bike swap
I loaned my 99 bmw RT to a fellow from Germany for a week or two in 2010. No problems and my insurance company said no problem to cover him. He put about 3500 miles on the bike and had avery good time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been trying to search for that site for several days. I had it bookmarked but... I tried all combinations of keywords. I think Google is blacklisting it or something. It never came up in the search.

Great idea.
I could make a bike available here in Ireland for visitors but, it would have to be for a month. Reason being is that Irish insurance companies will not insure non EU license holders. You will have to green card insurance, which involves you "titling" the bike in your name, an easy process enough but, requires pre booking the bike. My loaner bike would prob be a KLR 650, value 1000 euro. My idea, you "buy" the bike, you pay for insurance, you pay me for running costs, tires, chain wear, service etc, say 20cent/mile (roughly) and when you bring the bike back, we settle up. Do a 1000 miles around Ireland and the UK, 200 Euro (service charge) A KLR is plenty fast enough in Ireland plus you are high enough to see over the hedges. If there is enough interest, I'll start working on this plan |
