Have you worn it with any backpacks,Camelbaks etc.? if so how did it fare? Did shoulder straps interfere with the protector?

Is there a strap for the shoulders or do they just flop about?
Justin, IMO shoulders are wonky. Do not work well with a Camelback, too tall. I ditched them.

So what do you wear for shoulder protection?

I really like the rib protection on this vest, and it does look like it would be cool.

Not much feedback can be found on this so any info you have would be appreciated.
Thanks

I wear this:

IMO the shoulder protectors that sit on top of the shoulders, like most chest protectors have, offer minimal safety.

Just found this thread.

Does any of you had a chance to try Leatt Body Protector 3DF?
And how it compares to A8?

I use this pressure suit: Dainese "Jacket Wave Pro 2". killer. full deep back, full chest, shoulder, elbows, and kidney, all CE. probably now near the prices I'm seeing your other options.. got this first year and was steep. I use it under my KLIM Badlands, (which also has kidney), as this protection much stronger IMHO than the stock KLIM.. so i removed the stock, yellow KLIM jacket pads, and use this under. Still looking at Leatt.. but would be fine over top... of jacket.

I can't do the mesh stuff. They're already warm gear, then I have to wear a shirt under the mesh so the ladies (and dudes) won't chase after me. Even more sweat in the Alabama single track now.

The A8 can go over a shirt, under a jacket, under a jersey, or whatever.

I just bought an a8.

For context, also have a Knox warrior ( review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W5tS...e_gdata_player) and alpinetsrs BNS bionic jacket (overview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNsUk...e_gdata_player)

I the a8 is way more comfortable and more protective than the Knox and much lighter more comfortable the the bionic though probably just slightly less protective. I also wear a leatt and it works perfectly w/ the a8

Personally, in cooler weather I will probably still wear the bionic , but when temps are high you just cook in the thing. When it's hot, the a8 will be on.

I am very fussy about gear and have to give the a8 two thumbs up.

The only think I would point out is that it runs small. I am a consistent 44 chest (or xl shirt) and typicall 34 jeans (or size L) and I went with the 2xl - 4xl and it fits me perfectly.

Let me know what questions you have as I know there not much info out there on the a8.

I wonder if the OP could list what armour gear he has had previously. This would clarify where he's coming from.

Without retying the first page of the thread ....

661 compression suit
Fox compression suit
Rock garden base with Leatt over it
Different generic Roost guards

I still wear the A8 all the time. Street or dirt
