Yes. Let's see what they produce before shooting off our mouths. They are a successful company.

I hope the unveiling happens at the speedway, rather than Main Street. The venue will tell the tale.

As a Victory Vision owner, I am really looking forward to what Polaris does for Indian - based on my riding experience with the Vision, which I love, I bet Indian will be a winner with Polaris.

I do not know anything about the new Indian, I do know a stock or slightly warmed over Victory can spank a medium warmed up Harley badly. I would assume they will have the same attitude with Indian. As far as a performance bike like buell, it would not sell for the same reasons. You will see another cruiser. I personally wish they had done a long vertical 4 with shaft. Maybe they will someday.
But I bet it will be a good bike. Rod ragtoplvr screwed with this post 12-20-2012 at 01:52 AM |

Im hoping Polaris takes Indian back to the concept of a performance company. They already have Victory for the cruiser so it'd make sense that they do something different with Indian. And if Victory is anything to go by, Polaris takes their motorcycles seriously and does a pretty good job, I think.

Something along these lines?

As for a name, there are plent from Indians past: Scout, Warrior, Apache, Trailblazer, Arrow, etc. Even MX bikes. Imean why not? It is what indian made in the 70's so for th epeopel concerned with "heritage" it would fit right in.

They will argue with you and call you names until they are blue in the face too. They will even run HD down and call them junk despite their bike being a dead ringer (name on tank excepted) for one!

I don't have any idea what's going on but at least Polaris/Victory has the dollars and manufacturing ability to do something with the brand/name. My guess is ya may see the victory name go away and Indian become the Polaris motorcycle line. Cruisers will be the mainstay and the Indian name gives them a good excuse to get rid of the terrible victory styling. There just isn't a big enough market here for the smaller bikes that Polaris could easily do with their snow/quad motors. But anything is possible I guess.

The original V92C was a great looking bike. Unfortunately Polaris no longer makes parts for it, and actually seems to be trying to distance themselves from it. The Ness bikes look like junk, even if they do have reliable engines. They remind me of the Harley clone choppers with a Victory engine. Something to look at rather than ride.

Looking at the prices of their bikes, I predict Indian will have a new suitor before any new models are introduced.

A lot of the new bike parts fit on the old ones and the old ones were made till 2005 with the new engine and trans. Everything else can be found on Ebay. I just got a new carbon fiber muffler for my Sport Cruiser to replace the one that fell off on the slab 90mph which I also got off Ebay. I guess since there's no indian news we can talk about Victories. |
