See, I found it to be the opposite. North of Florence to Astoria, hwy 101 was beautiful. South of Florence, it runs inland a bit so you don't see the coast, the road was straight and had way more traffic. At least for the run I did a couple weeks.

But 126 from Eugene to Florence is a fun hwy for sure! I used to live in Eugene and loved this road out to the coast.

Hey bluesurf ! (James)

Never know where I'll bump into you! If you haven't done this event, it's a MUST. The guy (Tom N.) who puts it on does a primo job and it has been the best PNW Dual Sport event I've ever done.
http://www.blackdogdualsport.com/bd_events.htm

You can pick up on the thread below in this section where I ramble on a bit.
LA to Seattle via Mt St Helens
somewhere..., sometime..., on down the road...,later Roamer

Hope you can make it...should be a hoot! If you get there, look me up on the Hill at turn 10. You remember what the Strom looks like right? Wasn't it on of your buddies helped me pick it up that time at Stoessel?

Hey there, Roamer, good to hear from you again!

The BD sounds very good, but the MGP is my destination for that weekend....

Have fun out there! I'm sure that we'll ride together again soon.

Have a great trip.
Hey Luca,

96?

If I get going early on the return run, I might check that out, maybe throw in 299 from Redding (camping at Rogue River on the return run).

Helloooo Google maps...

There's been some mutinous talk of a Neah Bay run in a few weeks...

What about this Saturday: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85409

Maybe I had it backwards? The last time I rode from Astoria to Florence was a saturday of a Labor day weekend, so I was too busy cussing at old people in RV's to look around much.

Hey JD, yes 96. It runs from about ten miles north of Yreka out to the coast.
I have also heard that HWY 3 is really nice. You could catch 3 north off of 299 east out of Arcata, head up to Yreka, then back out to the coast via 96 which loops back onto 299 out to 101. a nice big loop.

Or, if you are coming up I-5, take 36 from Red Bluff then link up to 3, which takes you up to Yreka, then out to 96,

So many choices.

Damn, I wish I could go
