The countershaft sprocket-swap is easy-peasy. I don't recall the size socket you'll need, but you will want some leverage. Don't forget to readjust your chain (rear axle) to make up for the difference between sprockets.

KLR and KTM

My buddy with his KLR will be swapping out to a 15t

Myself with a KTM 950 will be swapping out to a 16t

Stock front sprockets for the slab to and from.

I see "%gps" is listed as 100% for all states, but if I remember correctly you need to get in touch with him and buy the GPS tracks separately.

Anyone have any info on this?
If you buy Sam's maps you can take them and using RideLeader (my favorite .gpx file creator) you can spend hours and create great .gpx track files to download into your phone or gps. I have already done this for Colorado and Utah portions of the TAT since I am planning to do those in June. I will be glad to send my .gpx track files to Sam so he can work a deal with you if he hasn't already made up his on. I would just send mine to anyone that wants them but Sam spent the saddle time and did the heavy lifting and he deserves the financial credit.

Tire swap

I don't know of a place that everyone swaps tires but I sent Sean at info@mountaintechbv.com a Yamaha dealer in Buena Vista, Colorado a set of tires, a couple oil filters, air filter, couple tubes, set of sprockets and "O" ring chain. This is just north of Salida which is on the trail and I considered to be half way. I had scheduled an appointment at 8:00am and was done by 9:30. Both of us worked on the bike. He has a tire machine so was pretty quick. Also, cleaned and oiled the old filter and I packed it for a spare. Worked well for me.

Start time is rapidly approaching. We leave on Wed from MD. So with a little luck we will be getting dirty on Thursday.

You guys will have a blast but god is it going to be brutal in Utah. I had some nasty sweaty days when I was there in May!

I really hope it isn't too bad. I don't cope well with 90+ heat. I would have been doing this trip later, but my mom is getting married sept 21st and it really fucked my plans. I'll probably just ride during the cooler hours and take shelter under the bike during the hottest ones.

I hear you. I can do heat, but I RUN when I sweat so I lose water and electrolytes fast. There is no escape from the sun out there at times and its so arid that it will suck the water out of you. I brought power bars and a 3 liter camelbak.. I still spent one night riding back to moab thinking "must..get...more..water...NOW".

Just saying to be careful. Its usually not that bad but it only takes once. If nothing else the rest of the tat should be awesome. The Arkansas portion was a total surprise and a total blast.

I have a 3 liter Geigerrig rig and also have another 3 liter Geigerrig bladder that will be full when we start to get to the hot places.

You can't get enough water out in the hot dry places.

When we left Moab when it was 107. This was earlier this month. I carried 5 liters of water with me.

Highly reccommend an evaporative cooling vest. It may be the difference between being in trouble, and being safe.

I'd like to leave then, but I may have to leave a bit earlier than that. I'll be leaving from eastern OK though. Shoot me a PM before you leave though.
