Any Husky TE310 Owners Out There?

I am looking for reports, good and bad on this bike.
Drawbacks, complaints. And pluses!
Oil capacities, holding temperature, gear ratios, etc.
Dependability!?
Hours life span (factory recommended service intervals).
Larger tank available yet???

I am comparing this bike to the BMW 450X & the KTM 450EXC.
Street legal versions.
This bike will be used for general off road, with connecting roads for gas stops, food etc.
I have looked over the TE310 & 450X as new models only.
The KTM EXC is pretty well known.

ADV use, and the ability to strap on a Giant Loop or similar.

Just as a note, the 2010 model 250 is a completely different bike from the prior models. Its quite a lot lighter and likely more competition oriented.

The 310 is the same basic bike as the 250, just with the optional big bore kit fitted from the factory.

Probably obvious, but if you are looking for the husqvarna equivalent to the BMW and KTM 450's the TE450 is what you want.

Ditto on previous comment, TE450 is a much fairer comparison to the G450X and 450EXC.

The TE310 is heavy by current day 250 standards (new 2010 TE250 included) because it has been built on the TE450/510 platform with same block, frame, transmissin, etc. With the 310cc's it has a bit more bottom end grunt to pull out of low speed situations, however I'd put it up against the new TE250 any day as the 2010 TE250 is almost 30lbs lighter which equals any extra hp the 310 puts out. And just to be clear, the 2010 TE310 is built on the 09 250 platform.

Great bike for the right purpose, but not comparable to a 450 but definitely comparable to a 400exc of past.

ramsey is a die hard trail rider albeit a self-admited slower one.
he is the source for central colorado trail riding.
he owned a 310 and bought a wrr. he sold the 310 and kept the heavier wrr for his trail work. maybe other issues going one, but he's retired & obviously he can own whatever he wants and choose to let the 310 go. i used caps just to reinforce bemmer pat's point. no doubt the 310 is a great trail bike but when i see someone like ramsey letting a highly desireable 310 go for a more common wrr i wonder out loud what's wrong with the 310? i see you're a husky fan so i understand you getting upset when someone is dogging "your" brand. anyway maybe ramz will chime in. i came to no conclusions with my post. you can deduct what you want from his actions. i for one would like to know he reasons as i, on paper, love the 310.

eakins, the WR-R and TE are extremely different bikes (the WR-F is rather similar though). I suspect the issue wasn't that the TE was a bad bike, but just not as well suited to the mission. That's like hearing that someone sold a corvette and bought a hybrid and determining that the hybrid must be faster

I asked ramz about that when he was selling. The short story is noise, gearing, tuning. I'd however prefer to let him chime in. I didn't get the impression that he thought it was a bad bike but rather not the bike for his needs.

I compared the 310 to the two 450's as the KTM or BMW don't offer a 300cc capacity bike (I'm looking 4 stroker).
I am looking for a 'tweener' sized bike (between 250 & 450).
I have an XR 250 - too slow.
I had an CRF450X. Great bike but too much in certain woods situations, for me at least.

Bottom line is I settled on a Yamaha WR250X!
I'm trading the supermoto wheels for 18/21's.
Yosh pipe & power commander. The bike moves out well.
Someday it might have a 290 cylinder on it!

The 2011 TE310 has a new frame and a lighter engine (bored and stroked version of the X-Lite engine that debuted last year in the TE250).

Here's a picture of the one I just picked up this week.


It comes with a 13t front sprocket and a 40t rear. It also comes with a longer chain and a 50t rear sprocket. Some may prefer that sprocket.

I've yet to get her out on any dirt. She rides nice. Goes up stairs well, too.

Can't wait to get her out on the dirt.

i have an 09 te310, its a great bike to go fast on off road and handles so well that going fast is easy.
the fuel injection is dead on & works great the stock suspension works great for me but im light.
i have ridden it on the highway for 20 or so miles to go play in the woods, i dont care how you gear it, its just not made for highway....thats why i now have a klx250.
imho the te310 belongs on a trailer until you arrive at the nasty stuff, whatever you like...mud, sand or rocks.

reliable? yes for me it has had no issues.

oversized tank? i have one on my husq 450supermoto and have not found the need for it on the 310 and i do the national dual sports & a few enduros without a problem.

again keep in mind this is all my opinion

comfort? zero/none, its an easy bike to ride fast but in no way is it comfortable to go for a cruise.

would i buy it again? definately but it could not be my only bike

if i had to have only one bike i would have something slower, heavier & softer than the 310

My 2011 Husky TE310 also came with a plug for the ox sensor, an electical cap for the wire harness, an unrestricted filter frame, an extra filter to keep water out of the airbox, a noise plug, and brackets to relocate the rear turn signals.

This picture is after I uncorked it but before I got rid of the reflectors and rear license plate stuff and moved the turn signals.
