Question Aftermarket visors for Shoei Hornet DS

Hello ADVriders!

After 12 years of sportbike-riding, and some year lurking this forum, I finally bought myself a small proper dual sport, in form of a XT660R. As A LOT of others, I'm deciding between the Shoei Hornet DS and Arai XD3 / XD4 (or X3 / X4 as they are called in Europe).

For some damn reason Shoei decided not to make dark tint or iridium visor for the Hornet. Nor a breath guard. Rather unfortunate.

I managed to find some iridium/chrome aftermarket visors for the Hornet on Ebay, but close to no information about experienced fit/quality. Just some poor German Ebay buyer feedback.

I'm having a hard time believing that every Hornet owner rides around with clear or light tinted visors. At least one guy doesnt ( http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...0&postcount=21 ). Anyone got some feedback to provide? My selection of helmet kind of depends on the visor at this stage.

Sorry for dumb question, but whats the reason for that kind of visor in Adv/off helmet?

I'm wearing prescription glasses, no ability for sun glasses. On my dual-sport helmet i plan to have clear OTG enduro googles. I generally dislike using clear visors and want something darker. Same for all my helmets.

And as for most riders, I compensate my shitty riding technique by looking as awesome as possible

Thats I understand

...but the other message I dont. I'm also wearing prescription glasses and use Shoei Hornet. For gogles I use contact lenses and for visor I have special tinted prescription glasses if needed be (photochromes might be great if you like them). In general I never use tinted visor/glasses while offroad or on technical sections as it detracts you from important terrain features. Can get you hurt in no time.

I can understand need for looking posh. But still, for road riding i highly recommend road helmet. For adv/offroad stick with clear vision though. Thats my 2 cents.. i know you wouldnt listen anyway
