installed seat back and side rails
the side rails were not much fun but look good when finished

Very nice edge on the opening Zip and if you can deal with the trunk lid there it will be cool.Was you father the man who never bought anything he could build as talented as you seem to be ?

yes

we called my dad inspector 12
the garage would get quiet as soon as the screen door on the house opened.
some one would always say here comes inspector 12.
my dad is 90 now i always wish he could hang in the garage now, lots of cool memories of an angry old german throwing tools out into the yard

the edging is a weld and tack deal
windshield today
you cant see it very well but you get the idea
its one of my old vetter windshields
cut match and weld ya

Seeing the downright lovely edge trimming on this body reminded me of something from 40 years ago. Hard to explain but hopefully worth the attempt. As a young guy I got a job with a fiberglass boat mfgr as a 'rigger' on 15-20 foot boats. I installed top cap on the lower hull plus windshield and accessories. Soon after I was transferred to rigging out engine rooms, drive systems and controls so I never got to try this technique myself.

Another guy worked with me, a 'lacquer head' glass boat rigger for years. Where top cap fits to bottom hull there's of course a seam. On these cheapos that was pop riveted together, part of my job. [Quality boats are GLASSED together with reinforcing roving!] The other fella applied aluminum trim on outside to cover that rivetted seam. These boats were slightly narrower in rear hull, then spread out amidships to about the dash area, then narrowed down to a pointed bow, so a rounded curve at about dash area.

He started at the rear with aluminum trim that was concave [hollowed out] on back side towards hull, rounded convex on the outer side that showed. A simple matter to pop rivet as he went, but when he got to the rounded area near dash he had to match that curvature.

He'd press down hard with the palm of his hand on the trim, pushing it tight against hull seam just before curve, right up by curve. Then with the other hand about a foot farther forward towards bow he'd quickly pull the trim strip away from hull about 6 inches and then swiftly press down with both hands and make the curve very tightly. All this was a very quick, almost one motion.

Instead of only pushing or pounding trim down in the desired contour around curve he first weakened and softened the trim before easily pressing in place. Without first pulling it away from hull to soften and anneal it the stiff anodized aluminum trim wouldn't cooperate in fitting tightly to curve and wouldn't lay flat and tight to contour.

So if anybody is doing a trim job like we've seen here, [you know, the BEAUTIFUL ONE above!] you might want to file away that 'trick of the trade' in the back of your mind. Practice it on some scrap before doing the real thing...

You really have a problem here. There's clearly a demanding fan base, plus the odd commentator, who cannot get enough of this. My ongoing thoughts, "When do you sleep ?" and "What's the diet ?".
