Well I'm up to date but still working (9pm on a Friday night  )This is a big Coma fan who has gained massive respect for Despres in this rally (never 'disliked' Despres as he is more local to me as I have spent a lot of time near his base, I just preferred Coma). PS. I also had a delivery at work 2 days ago that I had to explain to my colleagues... Dakar DVD box set from 1984 to 1989 PPS. Go Pyndon!

In the cars.
Two South Americans on the stage podium today with Terranova coming in third, 4:41 behind the winner Robby Gordon. Chicherit in second only 22" behind Gordon. Peterhansel was down in 9th but still has a comfortable 44:38 overall lead above second place De Villiers.
It gives me the chills to think what it must be like for Luis on his 150 cc KTM sharing the course with Robby pushing his Hummer at full warp speed.

Dakar website is driving me nuts, the 'Live follow your favourites' page is showing waypoint 2. Seriously? They are only at waypoint 2? The phone app is also quite lame.
Been following the Dakar since '86. CBC had a one hour show on the Dakar on that year and I'd taped it because it said 'Rally' in the TV guide. Lucky for me as a stay-at-home mom it turned out to be my toddler's favourite thing to watch on TV. So rather than hours of mindless childrens programming I got to watch the '86 Dakar about 2000 times. Been hooked ever since! The toddler is now 27 and has an G450X.
