Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing... "let the hotheads destroy their tires... *whistleWhistle*" =) But then again, it seems to me that the time he's lost today is quite substantial. Tomorrow will be really interesting!

BTW - hoping that France X will be showing some nice bivouac footage tonight.

EDIT: oh, gearbox problems... Had I been a believer in conspiracy theories I could claim that he's just simulating that in order to let his opponents believe that they've got him under control now. =D

Ned,

Just a joke ..

Could Despres slow ride today mean that he is conserving his tyres to donate them to Ruben Faria?

This Dakaro is all screwed up. Coma out, the universe just twisted

The French, who finished the day at 13'08 and lost a few places in general has suffered a gearbox problem. It could not select its fifth report, which in this special high speed was very penalizing.
Wow....how will that carry over into tomorrow?

p.s. that's why I always break 3rd gear.

He isn't a bad guy and I would go so far to say folks in the bivouac seem to like him...

That may be, but he showed that helping him won't be reciprocated.

People will remember that.

I hate bringing up mudgate but,

If you think we've been bashing (and fallen in love again) Despres over the last year you should hear what layman, with only a passing interest in the Dakar are saying ... Most people know nothing about him but they've seen that scene when he leaves Gonclaves in the mud and they are virtually crucifying him.
