Which by the by, brings up a good point. The gaps in the overall between the first five are still within the margin of_one_engine change.

Bent fork or sheared dogs. If it still shifts the other gears, then that's all I can think of.

He left a man behind who helped him. The footage was pretty clear.

What circumstances make that right?

Shit, I thought I was running Malle Moto on the F5irehose, but two days in a row of commitments (sled-dog ride with the neighbors - awesome! and car service at the dealership two hours away - not awesome) and now I feel more like the guy on a clapped out KLR with shot steering stem bearings who happened to be riding through desert and decided to follow some tracks thinking it would lead him to civilization. Once in a while I catch a glimpse of faster riders on better bikes way off in the distance and by the time I get to where they were camped, the fire is out and each day the embers are colder than the last time I found their camp.

I'm still on page 405 and don't dare look at how far behind I am. By the time I read this post, most of you will be on the rest day.

Regarding Barracuda-Bolt: While his riding style certainly appears more balls-to-the-wall than Le Patron, I'm betting it is well within HIS comfort zone. In particular I am thinking of the shot of him jumping over a nasty section of rocks. . . Given the outcome of many others who tried to ride around and through the rocks, I'd say his line was smoother. Unless he starts crashing spectacularly, ala James Stewart and Robby Gordon, I think it's unfair to say he is riding recklessly.

Regarding Despres: it's foolish to sit at our computers and try to out-think him. We know he can ride. We know he can win. We know he knows what it takes. While many of us root for the underdog, it is the old alpha who usually hands out the ass whoopin. He just doesn't respond to every growl and gnashing of teeth by the rest of the pack. That's what makes him the alpha. He chooses when to fight, and usually when to win. But then again, every dog his day. . .

Regarding motorhomes of luxury: Charlie Boorman would comfortable in this year's race.

Regarding heartfelt posts from the Patrons of F5: keep 'em coming. As I watch people dream, live, cry, and celebrate I join them. The past informs the future and the future is uncertain but right now we have the DAKAR!!!!

Hats of to all of those who have managed stay out front of the F5irehose, I'm still back in the dunes, wading my way through with a bald rear tire, and I'll catch ya when I catch ya.

I'm not sure you can use Trannygate and Pain in the ASS in the same rally...
