Nice...I was just snapping some screen shots to share. A new definition of tired looking at the video. To bad Jan is out.

I'm going to have a go at reinstalling it tomorrow but now I really must head for the bivouac. I haven't told the Mrs it's the Marathon stage in case she decides I have to sleep in the shed for that authentic "remote bivouac" experience Not to mention I don't have a shed.

Dakar Race report- Johnny Campbell
Stage 7 Marathon: 413Km Liason 217km special Today was a marathon stage. That means the riders and bikes sleep in a private bivouac with no service from mechanics. It is a must to conserve your equipment. It must last 2 stages. My role today was to conserve my rear tire and exchange it with Helder's roached out tire so he can have maximum advantage. I rode a very conservative pace, saving the tire, bike and my body. All good because we woke up at 4am and was on the road to make our first Andes crossing. Let me tell you 5am at 15,000' is no joke! Snow capped mountains, Freezing temps, low O2 making it hard to breathe, and mountain Llamas on the road side! All before we started the race portion. The race stage was very fast and was very similar to Baja roads, very fun. I knew once I saw it KC was Likely to win today and he did. Congrats my fellow American. Tonight we are sleeping in a gym in the middle of know where, Argentina. Looking forward to finishing tomorrows stage and having a day off!!! Yeeee! Xoxo Johnny Campbell

Given Manuel's newfound wealth..f5 fund you would have thought he could have made arrangements for someone to rebuild it tonite while the bikes are away

Does anyone know if the stator just fails completely. Sorry for the questions I'm trying to drive home while scanning for info and texting it to Chavo.

Cyrils on his own as far as I'm concerned.
I'm sticking with the original. After an initial period of excitement, I have realized- A, I shouldn't rush that job, B, I'm headed into Mexico and won't have any realistic way to do break in/ early oil changes, C, I'm headed into Mexico and plan to flog it mercilessly, may as well do that to the old motor and D, I'm not getting shit done checking the internet every 2 minutes. Rally Raidio working on a call with Dave P right now...

Fuel smell may just be high elevation/ no spark. But we're on pretty thin ice here, diagnosing from that tiny amount of info. Does Chavo have a stator with him?

Bah, nothing about the engine swap, atleast not picture wise. Might be that they said something but in that case I didn't understand it. =)
