It's getting close to rainy season there now (if not already) iirc and it doesn't take much to get flash flooding. I crossed lots of rivers that were once roads around Salta and SMT.

I flew out of Copiapo thursday night and there were hard thunderstorms all the way down the high andes. El Invierno Boliviano strikes the Dakar yet again.

Helder Rodrigues started today in 11º overall, 31:32 minutes from the leader. He's 13º at WP9, with a 02:21 disadvantage to the fastest rider. How can he appear in the overall classification at 17º place with 47:39 disadvantage? Did he received any penalty!?!?!?

I wonder if the choppers have been able to see what's going on? I'm assuming somebody has......for us to get a report of them being off track.
