KTM should get this boy in every rallye they can.

If Despres goes to Honda, Faria becomes leader of one branch, with Coma at the other. Pedrero and Caselli as WC's? What say ye?
sounds about right

If it is, Caselli would feel comfortable riding, and would explain him leading.

Again with the foreshadowing. Pyn mentions a whooped out track.

Great job, Mischa. When was the last time the top 10 were within an hour after 10 stages?!?

EDIT: Saw the updated graph. Thought the times were a little more spread than that, but still a tight year overall!

They're handing out wakizashis to the FI engineers now.
I feel really bad for Helder this year. I know he agreed to take up a new team and a new effort, but to blow an event like the Dakar on fuel capacity is a horrid job by the development team.

EDIT: so is the official story now that it was electrical and not fuel volume?

This makes it about 1/however-many-stages-it-is-this-year-as much as Baja, over similar(at times) terrain.

How do you scale something that is at the top of the scale? You compare it to the next best(most challenging) thing, regardless of location, geography, exponential differences or culture.
There is a huge difference between the Baja 500 and the Baja 1000 and with the Baja 1000, there is a difference between the loop event and the run all the way down the peninsula. Logistics, race strategy, pace, placement of pit support are all critically different in all of these races. Baja is team racing vs. the single rider in Dakar. You would be as well off comparing the ISDE to the Dakar. As far as I'm concerned they are all different, each is unique in their own way.

I suggest you should start with Google.... Or even perhaps a search on this site could prove educational........

It's not clearly palpable, but I'll agree.

I know the cars need to be Road legal, but do South Carolina plates really work in South America? Well I guess it's Southern America...

And It looks like the Boys from Baltimore showed up too at about a minute in. No wheelies though.

Final tally of busted bones, L1 (bad), L5, T12 and a number of busted ribs ( but they don't count). So all in all a pretty lucky let off.

What a wonderful image! I hope Kevin can (most importantly) heal up. If he makes it back to Dakar it would be wonderful, though in reality we know what the odds are after a year like his.
