trackingdakar.nl (update)

Hiya,

From now on you can request the "graph" with overall standings from within the website. I hope it works on most browsers, for me it looks best in Chrome. It was a quick (won't say dirty) way, maybe I can improve it for next year.

Where to find it? Well if you open the "overall" tab you will probably notice something. Not? Look next to the "follow me" button, there should be some icon. Click it and voila, the top 10 should be shown.

If it works the way I meant it to be it will show the top 10 of your current selection. You activated the "Malles Moto" filter? Then it shows the Malles Moto Top 10. On the cars page it will of course show cars. Click another stage to request the graph of that specific stage.

And... you can even request the graph for the stage results. In the overall tab, click on stage results. Then click on the icon and it should appear.

Have fun!

Mischa

Having soloed the 500, my experience is that Dakar stages vary a lot, and some are shorter/ easier than the 500 but the big stages are very much like a 500, with no whoops, and the added complexity of navigation.

For any American thinking about Dakar, soloing Vegas to Reno is probably the closest resemblance in terrain (no dunes in V2R, but dunes aren't that big a part of Dakar most days), and soloing the 500 is a close second and a good baseline for what you'll feel like after the big stages.

Ok, I may ave been a question or riding style.

But as I pointed out yesterday (sorry, I am insisting), on Fiambala stage Pizzolito had an error navigasting which took him to ride 30 more minute, then ran the stage faster than Helder but did not get out of fuel.

Is it riding style?
Or; i am gressing, Helder bike may not be the same as javier´s.
It could make sense, as Helder is top rider aiming for a podium, and may be Javier (or Campbell, who I also have not listen to have run out of fuel) a lttle more conservative EFI or engine?
I've got a theory to add to that. It's one that I'm partially borrowing from MotoGP and it has to do with rider weight. Could it be that there's a significant weight difference between Helder and Javier? In the end I'm guessing it's a lot of small factors that all contribute to this, undesirable, outcome.

I know I've said it before, but thank you again for all of the work that you put in here and on Twitter to keep things both updated, and interesting. I've been caught with an abnormal number of work days this edition, and it's be invaluable in keeping up to date with the action.

Are you calling him FAT?
what kind of a difference do you need to have such a large difference?

That's magic. Burn him!

As you say, works fine in Chrome, doesn't appear in Opera. Doesn't matter, I have 2 different browsers open anyway for the 2 weeks.
