Laugh Just saying 'Hi'

Hi all,
I am totally new to riding. Just bought my first motorcycle, a 2000 Suzuki DR200 S. Spent yesterday riding in my graveled driveway. Only laid the Squirrel down three times (yeah, that new). Today I am up to well executed circles (both ways) and figure eights. And.....I managed second gear!
So, Glassman64 told me to tell you all, he is teaching me all the wrong things about riding. He is such a kidder He also tells me that I will get lots of great advise on here (so, please, don't be shy).
Hopefully, by next year, I am ready to hit the road ( not literally) and be joining the adventure rides. Sure am looking forward to meeting you all.
Susi

Hi and welcome to the fun.

You might want to pop into this thread too: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=436284

The best advise for any new rider is take a riding class you will be glad you did. Glassman can teach you the different ways to fall down and the class can teach you how not to fall down.

I expect to see you at next year Hells Canyon

Thanks Ladybug. Appreciate the welcome. And definitely planning on making it to Hells Canyon next year. And thanks for the thread, added it to my subscriptions.
Going to take a riding course shortly, I hear the Star program is pretty good?

welcome

Welcome to the club. As you well know in the Palouse, gravel roads outnumber paved by quite a lot. You will be proficient enough soon to start exploring them.

Thanks Davek181. Yes, the Palouse has many graveled roads. So many beautiful areas to explore...........once I am brave enough to leave my driveway

Welcome!

A good thing to remember about the Palouse is harvest season this time of year. A good idea to stay off the back roads , or be very wary on the blind corners, and leave it to the teenagers driving the loaded wheat trucks ASAP.

Welcome to the Asylum!

Take your time learning, complete a motorcycle course and keep riding. Your itch to ride will grow and soon you'll be wanting nothing else to do besides scratch that itch
