Camping near Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge

Hi All,

Later this week we're riding from the bay area to Edwards AFB and were thinking of camping out near bitter creek national wildlife refuge. Anyone have experience with campgrounds in that area? Any recommendations appreciated.

Of course, any tips on nice (dirt) roads are very welcome too:-). No definite route set yet but are thinking of taking the 1 down the coast through Big Sur and then head down to Lake Soda (nice dirt roads). We're riding thumpers (XR600R and KLX250s) and pack pretty light.

Thanks!

I always check:

to see what is in the area. There are several free camping spots in that area around Bakersfield.

Best,
